How To Lose Stubborn Weight - Article

If you spend any amount of time watching TV or thumbing through magazines, you're going to come across some diet program that looks like it is the answer to your prayers. Often, these diet programs are little more than a method of making the company money, not of helping you to lose weight. Think about it in this way, the diets that are given to you by these weight loss companies would quickly put them out of business if they actually worked and helped you to lose weight permanently. Many times, they are something that is meant to look good on the outside but unfortunately, while they do cause weight loss to occur, the weight returns (usually with interest!) when you come off the program. Because of good advertising, however, you continue to buy the products faithfully.

There are also plenty of fad diets which are not necessarily promoted by the weight loss industry. Many of these diets revolve around cutting things out of your diet drastically, such as carbohydrates or fats. A good example of this is the Atkins diet, one of the most popular diets in the world. Many people have wondered whether this is a healthy way for you to eat or not. What the Atkins diet does is to put your body in a state that is known as ketosis because you are reducing the amount of carbohydrates that you're eating so drastically that your body begins burning fat for fuel. Does it work? It absolutely works and it can help you lose weight very quickly. Unfortunately, ketosis also uses some of your organs for fuel as well. After all, ketosis is something that diabetics try to avoid for their very life. Putting your body into this state is definitely not healthy and not a good idea.

Another type of diet that is very popular is low-fat diets. These tend to cut all of the fats out of our diet because of the assumption that if we eat fat, we get fat. It certainly is true that many of the fats that we eat are bad for us and some of them are outright atrocious. You might be surprised to learn, however, that some fat in our diet is absolutely essential for digestion and health. In addition, there are some good fats that we can use in order to lose weight. Do you want to eat a healthy fat that will take weight off your body naturally? Try eating a couple of spoonfuls of raw, organic coconut oil on a daily basis. It may seem odd, but it works.

Instead of falling for every fad diet that is out there, you should simply try eating a healthy, balanced diet and get a little bit of exercise. As you begin to see results from this way of living, you will discover a truth that many dieters never learn. It's not about fad diets, prepackaged foods or going to extremes.

How To Overcome The Weight Loss Problem - Article

Everybody knows that obesity is a serious disease, and it's getting worse. It's getting worse in two ways: those that are obese tend to get heavier and heavier; and the number of obese people in our western world cultures is increasing rapidly, especially in North America, New Zealand, Australia and United Kingdom. In the USA in particular, death from obesity is fast approaching cancer as the number one killer. The tragedy is that those who died of cancer had no choice, but those that died of obesity did have a choice but elected not to exercise it.

The puzzle that we all need to answer is why? Why didn't those overweight or obese people not make that simple decision? What stopped them?

The answer is probably many fold. Lethargy, laziness, an over fondness of food or certain foods possibly head the list. But there are other factors too. As the weight builds, it becomes easier to sit and watch a movie than take some exercise. Also, the person feels ashamed and embarrassed about their size and their looks, so they go find solace - usually (or should that be always?) in the refrigerator. So the overweight person is now battling two forces that are gradually taking them into a down hill spiral: less and less exercise; and more and more food, mostly junk food at that. The ultimate end is then inevitable. It's only a question of when.

Of course as the weight builds, so do the medical problems. Heart attack and stroke are the most likely, but cancer, diabetes, angina, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, liver problems, kidney problems and heaps more are all common, so even if the patient lives, he or she battles a plethora of health problems.

The good news is, it's never too late to make a start back to full health. Plus there are many things you can do right now which will make a difference. Start by cleaning out your refrigerator of anything which is in a packet (other than packets of ingredients of course such as flour or raw pasta or nuts). Stock up with fresh fruit and vegetables instead. Then try these simple things you can do.

1. Take some exercise every day, at least thirty minutes daily, but if you are not used to walking, start with ten minutes and work up slowly. When you are fit to it, an hour is marvelous.

2. Avoid takeaway food like the plague. This also applies to ice cream, chippies, cake, chips, fries or anything cooked in oil or fat and anything from the bakery. Treat yourself to the very occasional chocolate.

3. Eat at least two and preferably three or four pieces of fruit every day. Fruit is non fattening and delicious and makes an ideal snack.

4. Eat at least five serves of vegetables daily. Vegetables are completely 'free', absolutely non fattening and very satisfying. Preferably cook them lightly, or even eat them raw. The more they are cooked, the less nutrition is left in them.

5. Limit meat to two or three serves a week, especially red meat. Try eating more fish, or not have meat at all on the other days.

6. Cut out all sugar. Sugar is the biggest scourge in our modern diet and must be avoided at all costs. This especially applies to soft drinks of all types. There are thirteen teaspoons of sugar in one 375 ml can of soft drink or coke. Likewise, don't go for diet coke, the artificial sweetener in that is carcinogenic which is actually far worse for your health. Cut back on jam and marmalade, these are typically 60% and more sugar.

7. Be as active as you can through the day, every little bit helps. Leave the car at home for short trips, walk or bike instead. Use the stairs rather than an elevator whenever practical.

8. Avoid or cut down on alcohol. Your body turns alcohol into sugar which then ends up as fat.

If you just do those simple things, you will find that you will make some headway in reducing your weight.

How To Shift Stubborn Fat -  Article

Many of us have tried for years to lose weight without any real success. We may even end up getting to the point where we have given up on trying to lose weight at all. Although there may be some medical reasons why you might be having a difficult time losing weight, you would be surprised to learn that many of us can't lose weight because we are simply going about it in the wrong way. Here is some ideas about healthy living and how to finally win the weight loss fight.

Let's just go back 100 years or more and think about what life was like then. Your great-grandfather got up early and labored in the fields or chopped firewood all day, all by hand (no machinery to help). Meanwhile your great-grandmother also got up early to cook a hearty breakfast, milked the cow, fed the pigs and the hens, collected the eggs, did the laundry by hand (in a copper that had to be lit beforehand), worked the vegetable garden, brought in the fire wood, cooked and cleaned and sewed all day every day. There was no convenience food at all and things like ice cream or lemonade were a twice a year treat. No wonder they weren't fat!

Now think about today. We get out of bed (usually rather late)and SIT to have breakfast. Then we walk to the car and SIT in it to drive to work. Then we walk into the office and SIT there all day. We then walk back to the car and SIT in it to drive home, then SIT to eat dinner and then SIT watching TV or a DVD. On top of that we stuff ourselves with convenience foods and wonder why we are overweight or obese.

Obviously, from the above, we can easily see that getting more exercise is one of the essentials to getting our weight under control. A half hour walk each day would be just marvelous, but an hour would be better. Joining a gym is a good idea too.

Another way to lose weight if you are having a difficult time is to get your body into a healthy condition by eating the right foods and avoiding junk food. Junk food is anything processed in any way and the list is endless. It includes bacon, anything pre-prepared and packaged (like heat-and-eat meals such as lasagna), almost all takeaways (especially fries or anything else cooked in fat), chippies (and most other nibbles), everything from the bakery, hamburgers and similar, all sweets, ice cream and confectionery, jams and marmalade and all soft drinks.

Many of these foods aren't made of what you think they are either. For example, many fries aren't made of potatoes any more (now that surprised you, didn't it!) but are made of paste which is cheaper and easier to use, so you are even denied the food value of potatoes.

There are all sorts of 'nasties' you will find in many foods that are bad for your health and your waistline.

Sugar is the scourge of our modern diet and is one of the biggest contributor to weight gain of all the foods mentioned above, especially in children. Most soft drinks are loaded with sugar. Cola is loaded with caffeine which is also bad for you. A 375 ml can of cola contains THIRTEEN TEASPOONS of sugar! Watch those jams too, they contain anything from 50% to 76% sugar.

So next time you go into a takeaway and order a hamburger (which is on the "bad" list), fries (which is on the "bad" list), and a coke (which is on the "bad" list), you haven't done your body much of a favor at all! And they have the audacity of calling it a 'meal deal'! Huh! Plus, you have just sabotaged your weight loss efforts. Try heading for the sandwich bar or majoring on fruit for your next lunch.

We, as a modern society, need to return to good old fashioned home cooking. If you cook fresh ingredients from scratch you will be making a huge improvement in your level of nutrition.

How To Eat Better And Do Simple Exercises To Lose Weight -  Article

Everybody knows that taking some form of exercise on a regular basis is an essential part of losing weight. However, there is an important aspect to choosing the type of exercise you wish to use.

That is, you must choose something that you love to do, that you will want to keep doing. Do you hate walking but love tennis? Then play lots of tennis! Hate cycling but love walking? Then walk!

It is quite possible that someone else has had an excellent result by doing a particular activity and suggests that you too will benefit from doing the same thing. But it will be absolutely no use whatever following what that person is doing if you do not have a love for that activity. Taking exercise must be a pleasure you look forward to, not something you dread or that has to be endured.

A strongly recommended way to exercise is doing weights, either at home or at the gym. Before you start that, just make sure the thought of it excites you and that it is something you really will keep doing. A temporary commitment will only bring a temporary result.

Many people are scared that as they build muscle mass they will start to look like Mr Universe. You can be assured that this will only happen if you deliberately set out to achieve this and follow a special regime to cause it which includes a special high calorie diet. Otherwise, the sort of muscle mass you will build will be barely noticeable; in fact it will tone up and enhance the look of your body.

But the good news is, muscle mass burns calories! The more muscle you have, the more you will burn, even while you are sitting doing nothing, and even while you sleep in your bed.

In addition, be as active as you can through the day as every little bit helps. Leave the car at home and walk or cycle for short trips. Use the stairs not the elevator for preference. Go for a short walk at lunch time rather than sit around.

No advice on weight loss can be complete without a few words on what you eat. Almost all takeaway food, all prepared and packaged food, all confectionery, every thing from the bakery, all soft drinks, chippies and all fried food must be avoided.

All of those so called 'foods' are extremely bad for your general health, and if your overall health is below par, then weight loss either cannot happen or will be difficult. What constitutes healthy eating is a subject all of its own, but basically instead of eating all this junk food, major on fresh fruit and vegetables. Do more home cooking and get away from convenience meals; the less you cook vegetables the more goodness is left in them, so try whizzing up raw vegetables to add to other dishes; choose fruit for a snack rather than cake or cookies; and limit red meat to two or three times a week. If you do those simple things, you will find you will enjoy more health and weight loss can now occur.

To summarize, find an exercise that you will enjoy and do it regularly, and eat healthier food. Then weight loss is almost inevitable.

How To Lose Weight Using A Colon Cleanser -  Article

The more junk food you have eaten in your lifetime, the more decaying fecal matter will be lodged in your intestines. Yuk! This festering mess of toxins and parasites is a breeding ground for the wrong sort of bacteria and can lead to bloating, stomach cramps, excessive wind, constipation, general bad health and more.

There may be up to 20 pounds of this muck lodged in your intestines that you are completely unaware of. While your digestive system is harboring this muck, it cannot possibly work effectively. Plus, your general level of health is compromised, your energy levels will be down, and it is difficult or even impossible to lose weight.

Obviously, if an effective colon cleanser can shift that weight of stuff, you have an immediate start on your weight loss efforts. But there is more. Once that stuff is gone, your digestive system can work properly, and once you have achieved that, then weight loss becomes easier.

But now I must point out a huge warning: since colon cleansers have been found to be beneficial in weight loss and general health, the market has been flooded with hundreds or even thousands of brands of colon cleanser. Very few of them work and do what is claimed. Some do the job but upset the stomach.

Recently a major test was done as shown on CNN, CBS NEWS, ABC and WSJ.com which strikingly revealed how few actually worked, and most did not appear to have the necessary ingredients to have a hope of working.

During the test, the top performing cleanser moved an average of 14 to 16 pounds of this horrible gunk. So before you select one to use, search on Google for 'colon cleanser reviews' and make your decision from there.

A wonderful adjunct to colon cleansers is the raw food diet. When you take food, especially vegetables, half way to boiling point, you have already killed all the beneficial and healthful enzymes and all the vitamins and minerals disappear real fast after that. So if you eat cooked vegetables, you are really eating an empty shell devoid of good nutrition.

I should also mention that eating raw food alone will act as a very effective colon cleanse. The only problem is that it will take a good deal longer than an effective cleanser, but it will do the job.

Before you throw your hands up in horror at the thought of munching through raw food, think about putting it all through your food processor or whiz so it is easy to eat yet still contains all the potential goodness in the food. Also there are hundreds of really delicious recipes on line if you look for them.

How To Find The Best Food And Exercise For Weight Loss -  Article

If you are embarking on a weight loss program, the subject of exercise is going to arise. The big question is, which one is best? There are actually two types of exercises you can do: aerobic and anaerobic.

Aerobic is where your exertions cause your heart and lungs to work hard and you breathe deeply. Activities that cause this would be jogging, fast cycling, swimming or brisk walking.

Anaerobic is where your heart and lungs are not unduly taxed, such as using weights, slow cycling or strolling.

Probably the number one requirement is that you choose something you love to do. There is not much point in deciding you are going to use weights, rush out and buy the equipment, and two months later it is all lying idle.

So if a friend tells you they had a wonderful result by doing XYZ and suggest you try it too, just make sure it is something you like doing so much you actually look forward to that activity each day. Most people enjoy playing sport, so you are more likely to find a pleasurable activity in that arena. Net ball, soccer, volley ball, tennis, cricket, even dancing; the list is endless. So think of one of those activities that you would enjoy and play lots of it.

Aerobic exercise will give a faster weight loss result initially, but muscle burns calories at a much faster rate than fat; so if you elect to use weights and build your muscles, you may find you are better off in the end. The extra muscle will continue to burn calories even while you are resting or sleeping. Also, anaerobic exercise is very good for stimulating the metabolism.

From the above, it is plain to see that if one were to alternate between the two types, this would give the best possible outcome. But exercise is only a tiny part of your weight loss efforts. You also need to eat the right foods in the right quantities if you are going to get a result. So let us talk about food for a moment.

The very best type of food to eat of all is raw food, for raw food is living food, it contains "life force" plus having copious quantities of enzymes which are essential for good health. The vitamins and minerals are available too. The next best type of food is cooked food. The moment you cook food, it becomes "dead food". The enzymes are killed off at less than half the boiling point of water, and the minerals and vitamins are severely curtailed as well.

Then comes the more undesirable foods such as processed foods, prepared dishes, heat and eat meals, instant this or that and almost everything from the bakery. The least desirable foods are takeaways, snacks, chippies, nibbles, confectionery, fries, doughnuts, burgers and all soft drinks, especially cola.
